How is a tooth pulled?
First, you are given an anesthetic. Once this is in, the dentist loosens the tooth by making a twisting or prying motion. Usually it is extracted whole.
If the tooth is very fixed, it is taken out in sections.
Does the pulling hurt?
Extracting a tooth can be quite painful. Fortunately, it is almost always done under local anesthesia so you won’t feel anything. The first few days after treatment it can be painful and swollen. You can take painkillers for this. Try not to touch the wound too much. There is a blood clot on it that protects the wound. Also be careful with brushing.
